How A Logistics Company Became Georgia’s Logistics Leader – An Interview with Nino Chakhnashvili

November 26, 2025

The logistics sector in Georgia has been growing dynamically over the past decade. However, one of the key players that helped shape this market is A Logistics Company (ALC), which continues to maintain its leadership position and set standards for both local and international brands.
In this blog, we share insights from Nino Chakhnashvili, Deputy Director of ALC, about the company’s history, the introduction of 3PL services, challenges, and future plans.

1. The Beginning — How A Logistics Company Was Created

How did the story of A Logistics Company begin? What was the main motivation that inspired you to start this business?

“Although the companies within the ALC Group each have their own long individual history, our team has been actively positioning itself in the logistics industry since 2009.”

What was the situation in the logistics sector at the time the company was founded? What were the main challenges you encountered, and how did you overcome them?

“When our team began transforming existing industrial real estate into warehouse spaces and constructing new warehouses that met international standards, there was practically no real competition on the local market. Just a few years after founding the company, we became the market leader — the largest warehouse and logistics company in size and service quality.”

2. 3PL — Innovation in the Georgian Market

When and how did the idea of introducing 3PL services emerge?

“3PL was launched in pilot mode in 2015, and I can confidently say that as a Georgian company, we were pioneers among local businesses. The idea emerged 2–3 years earlier, but since there was no practical experience or best practices available in the country, we had to involve European experts and receive extensive practical consultations from them.”

Ten years ago, you were one of the first 3PL providers on the Georgian market. What was your prediction at the time, and how did you expect the sector to respond to such an innovation?

“Since back then we had many clients of various sizes renting warehouse space from ALC and managing their operations independently, the need for such a service gradually became evident. It wasn’t easy for the sector to embrace this innovation — and we didn’t expect it to be — but the implemented projects and the company’s development speak for themselves and justify our initial predictions.”

What challenges did you encounter during the implementation of 3PL, and how did you overcome them?

“The implementation process went smoothly thanks to experienced experts and the tireless work of our team. A bigger challenge was convincing Georgian companies to entrust us with their inventory and allow us to manage their logistics operations. Ten years ago, we offered 3PL services free of charge to several existing tenants who were simply renting warehouses from us. Within just a few months, the results convinced them how valuable it was to save the time and resources required for managing warehouse and logistics operations. Since then, demand has grown not only from Georgian companies but internationally as well. Today, we serve several successful international brands.”

3. ALC’s Development — Strategy, Infrastructure, Technologies

What was a key turning point in the company’s growth?

“I believe that our continuous readiness to innovate has been — and still is — the main factor driving our company’s growth. It’s also essential for us to implement and maintain international standards, while adapting to the individual needs of each client.”

How has your service package and infrastructure evolved over the past 10 years?

“Our accumulated experience enabled us to expand our service offerings. Today, we have two main directions — 3PL, meaning full logistics service, and warehouse real estate management/rental. At the same time, we fully adapt to the needs of existing and potential clients and can meet any demand. We also offer customs warehousing, consulting services, and more.”

What technological innovations have you implemented to optimize processes?

“3PL wouldn’t be possible without technology. From the very beginning, we implemented WMS (Warehouse Management System), which provides countless possibilities to handle any inventory-related challenge. Depending on the project, we also integrate TMS (Transportation Management System) and connect these systems to the client’s internal software.”

How do you maintain competitiveness in a market where demands are constantly changing?

“A drive for innovation is the clearest answer. Every project we implement is ahead of local market conditions and standards — that’s why major, successful companies choose us.”

4. Working With Clients — Trust, Reputation, and Stability

In your opinion, what was the main reason clients chose you?

“Reputation, reliability, and stability — these three principles are our team’s daily priorities and responsibilities.”

What is your approach to service quality?

“We are quite demanding when it comes to quality. Our field is dynamic, and we also work with numerous suppliers. During new warehouse construction or before launching a new project, we put considerable effort into ensuring client satisfaction.”

Can you share one or two success stories that reflect the company’s best practices?

“We provided strong competition to a major international company with over 500 years of history — arguably our only true competitor on the local market. As a result, we brought over a German company that we have now been serving with full logistics operations for more than 5 years. It’s worth noting that the project was implemented during the COVID pandemic, which made the process even more challenging.
We also carried out an important project for one of the country’s largest importers — we built and managed their entire logistics chain for one year and later handed it over. The company now operates much more efficiently in terms of logistics.”

5. Team and Corporate Culture

What role has the team played in the company’s development?

“I believe that every success is created by each employee. Everyone has their role and function in achieving our shared mission.”

What is your corporate culture like, and how do you retain professionals within the team?

“From the very beginning, we decided to incorporate modern management principles into the company. Every internal and external process is managed through one transparent system. We strive to provide a comfortable and suitable environment for employees. Initiative is always welcomed, and if it turns into a project — it becomes a great example for the entire team.”

Which skills and values are most important at A Logistics Company?

“Our team is made up of very interesting individuals. Their skills and unique experience give us the ability to adapt quickly and grow.”

6. Future Vision — ALC’s Strategy for the Next 5–10 Years

How do you see the market evolving over the next 5–10 years?

“The market has become saturated recently, and the construction of new warehouses has increased, especially around Tbilisi. In the medium and long term, the need for developing logistics services and relocating logistics hubs to the outskirts of Tbilisi will become even more evident.”

What strategic expansion plans do you have?

“ALC is growing. Starting from 2026, our industrial capacity will increase fivefold in the short and medium term, generating an unprecedented scale of infrastructure in the region. Our plan is to diversify our client portfolio across various industries, attract major international brands, and offer ready-made infrastructure and services for their operations. Additionally, attracting online retail platforms and taking over their logistics operations is an exciting direction for us.”

What is your main goal?

“Our main goal is to maintain our leadership position and strengthen it through many successful projects. We actively share industry knowledge and experience, which helps attract more professionals to the job market and increases demand for our services — both locally and internationally.”

A Logistics Company today is one of the most stable, innovative, and fast-growing logistics companies in Georgia.
Nino Chakhnashvili’s insights show that ALC’s mission goes beyond simply maintaining market leadership — the company sets standards, develops the sector, and helps shape the future.
